Field records & input costs
What each field cost to grow, set against what it yielded.
Available on request. It sits on top of the grain records you already keep. Get in touch if you would like access for your farm.
The problem
Harvestt can already tell you that Home Field did 8.96 tonnes a hectare. What it cannot tell you is whether that was worth it — whether the extra nitrogen and the third fungicide paid for themselves, or whether the field that yielded less actually made more money.
Gross margin per field is the number that changes cropping decisions, and it is usually calculated once a year, late, at whole-farm level where the detail that matters has already been averaged away.
How it works
What it covers once you have access. Tell us if anything does not fit how you work and we will adjust it.
- Record inputs against a field: seed, fertiliser, sprays, with rate and cost.
- Combine that with the yield Harvestt already knows to give a cost per tonne and a gross margin per hectare, per field.
- Rank fields by margin rather than by yield, which is not the same ordering.
- Carry it across seasons so you can see whether a poor field is consistently poor or just had a bad year.
